Directions
From Aberdeen take the A93 out to Banchory. Once in the town, at the first set of main traffic lights, turn left and follow the road signed to Fettercairn for about 2 miles until you reach the village of Strachan. Go straight through the village and take the second right turn after the primary school up to Manse Croft. The house is the first one on the left hand side.
From the South, a more scenic option is to leave the A90 on the B974, following signs for Fettercairn and Banchory which will bring you to a T Junction in Strachan. Turn left through the village and take the second right after the primary school up to Manse Croft. a good selection of shops, supermarkets, restaurants and galleries.
Surroundings
The Feughside Inn is just 2 miles away and offers excellent food and real ale, whilst the market town of Banchory is only 3 miles and offers a good selection of shops, supermarkets, restaurants and galleries.
The Cairngorms National Park is easily accessible and gives numerous opportunities to bag a munro (mountain over 3,000 ft) including the famous Lochnagar on Balmoral Estate; look out for deer and other wildlife whilst walking in Glen Tanar or take a walk directly from the house up neighbouring Scolty Hill with excellent views of the surrounding countryside (1 hour).
There are endless miles of footpaths and bridle paths and mountain bikers are spoilt for choice in this area with routes starting directly from Feughside and covering family rides in Scolty woods to wilderness trails in the Forest of Birse and adventurous downhill routes (see welcome pack).
The ski centres are also close by with the Lecht just 25 miles and Glenshee within an hour's drive. You can also try your hand at Salmon and Trout fishing in the Rivers Feugh, Dee and Don (permits available locally) or golf on one of the many local courses. The castle trail in Royal Deeside and whisky trail in Speyside are within easy reach.
The bright lights of Aberdeen are within a 30 minute drive. Aberdeen
is a vibrant bustling city with a great selection of shops, restaurants,
galleries, theatres and attractions. In all, Feughside provides the
ideal base for an idyllic holiday in the heart of Royal Deeside.
